Getting Started with Physics Zen

Physics Zen is a practice app, not a course video. You pick a skill, get a generated problem, type an answer, see whether it is right, and open a worked solution. Theory and diagrams stay next to the item. Then the next problem uses new numbers.
That loop is the product. Everything else, including Premium, is a gate around it.
If you have not installed it yet, download for iPhone. The rest of this page is what to tap first.
The First Session
Onboarding starts with one kinematics item, then a daily target: 3, 5 or 10 problems. You can change the target later. Notifications and analytics are opt-in. You can skip sign-in. Progress still saves locally.
Go to Kinematics. Four skills: uniform motion, uniform acceleration, free fall, projectile motion. All four are free. Stay here until constant acceleration and the projectile split feel ordinary. Understanding kinematics intuitively is the written version of that picture.
Each skill has five difficulty levels. Correct work moves you up. Mistakes keep you on the current idea with fresh values. A free user also has to fill the early levels of a skill before the next skill in the topic unlocks. That chain is the default teaching order.
What Is Free, Precisely
The landing page slogan is "start with Kinematics." The code is more specific.
- Kinematics is free end to end.
- Every other topic is free except its last skill. Dynamics leaves the inclined plane. Energy leaves power. Circuits leave Kirchhoff. And so on: sixteen Premium skills out of forty-nine.
- Both exam paths are Premium as paths. AP Physics 1 walls all 26 of its skills in path form, A-Level all 49, even the ones that are free in the topic list. The hole in that wall is a free first lesson, so you can see exam-style items before buying.
- Detailed statistics are Premium.
- Premium also skips the unlock chain, so you can jump to a skill without grinding the ones before it.
There are no ads, coins or lives. Light and dark themes are both there. Prices are not listed on this site because they come from the App Store for your storefront: weekly, monthly, yearly, or a lifetime purchase.
Exam Paths
Two of them.
AP Physics 1 is the current eight-unit mechanics course: 26 skills, . No electricity, waves, optics, thermodynamics or modern physics. Read the AP study plan if that is your paper.
A-Level Physics is the full 49-skill curriculum, . Mechanics plus the four later sections. Read the A-Level path guide if that is your course.
Neither path is official board material.
Theory, Pictures, Mistakes
Open theory without leaving the problem. Definitions, formulas, a short example. Force diagrams, circuits, graphs, waves, rays, energy levels and fluids appear when the item needs them.
Wrong answers go into a mistake journal. Retry the same concept later with new numbers. That is more useful than rereading the item you already saw.
The generator and the solutions run on the device. You need a network for purchases and for optional account sync, not for a practice session on the train.
A Sensible First Week
Day 1: onboarding item, daily goal, Kinematics skill one.
Days 2 to 4: the other three Kinematics skills. Read the kinematics article if a projectile still looks like one two-dimensional blur.
Day 5: either stay in mechanics on the topic list, or peek at the free first lesson of an exam path if you already know which paper you are sitting.
If the method is the thing that breaks, use how to study physics effectively as the checklist: attempt, check, then open the solution, then close the theory card and do another generated item.
Common questions
- What is free in Physics Zen?
- The complete Kinematics topic is free. In every other topic the last skill is Premium. Both exam paths are Premium, with one free first lesson so you can see the format. Detailed statistics are Premium. The generator, theory and worked solutions on free skills work offline.
- Do I need an account?
- No. Practice data stays on the device unless you sign in. Sign-in is optional and adds cross-device sync. Analytics are off until you opt in.
- What does Premium add?
- The last skill in each non-Kinematics topic, both exam paths, detailed statistics, and the ability to skip the unlock chain and jump to a skill. Weekly, monthly, yearly and lifetime options use local App Store pricing. There are no hardcoded prices on this site.
